Stockholm, Sweden-based developer and contractor Skanska has hired a new chief financial officer and executive vice president, the company announced Thursday.

Jonas Rickberg will take over as CFO no later than Jan. 31, according to a release. Rickberg is currently the CFO and executive vice president at Scania Group, a Södertälje, Sweden-based heavy commercial vehicle subsidiary of German automaker Volkswagen, where he has worked for nearly 20 years. Prior to that, Rickberg had spent five years at Volvo.

He also holds a bachelor’s degree in medical science from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and a master of business administration from the School of Economics in Gothenburg, Sweden.

“I am really looking forward to join[ing] Skanska at such an exciting time in the company’s journey. Together, we will leverage the solid financial foundation, achieve long-term growth and keep pushing the boundaries of innovation and sustainability in the industry,” said Rickberg in the release.

Rickberg will replace current CFO Magnus Persson, who announced in April that he would be stepping down, but has remained on as the company sought his replacement. Persson has worked at Skanska for 18 years, and served as company CFO since 2018.

Persson is leaving to join Evroc, a Stockholm-based technology and information company building what it claims will be Europe’s first secure, sovereign and sustainable hyperscale cloud.

Before Rickberg steps into the role, Pontus Winqvist, senior vice president group corporate finance and control, will act as CFO beginning Sept. 1, according to the release.
