I have a confession to make: I kind of hate pumpkin spice. When the Starbucks fall drinks come out every August, Iâm the person who rolls their eyes at everyone waiting in line for PSLs, and I mostly walk past all the pumpkin spice paraphernalia lining the shelves at Trader Joeâs come September. While Iâm all for romanticizing fall and making the most of the season, for me, pumpkin spice is just not a part of it that I enjoy. There is, however, another fall flavor that I believe is so criminally underrated that I had to write an entire story about it, and that is salted maple. This particular ingredient combination just tastes like fall to me and also happens to go well with so many of the foods I tend to associate with autumn: baked goods, coffee, breakfast pastries, and more.
Salted maple is subtler than pumpkin spice but just as cozy, and itâs the fall flavor Iâll be turning to all season long (starting with a homemade salted maple latte to kick off my morningsâtrust me). If youâre similarly over pumpkin spice but still want to enjoy some seasonal treats, these salted maple recipes are the perfect fix:
