Mattel released it’s 2024 Day of the Dead Barbie! Since 2019 Mattel has released a new Day of the Dead Barbie every year. Each Day of the Dead Barbie is unique in appearance and celebrates the traditions, symbols, and even rituals of Dia De Muertos. Every Day of the Dead Barbie has it’s own traditional dress that has been beautifully embroidered and make up and this one is no different!

Day Of The Dead Barbie Details
This Barbie, like the others, is a collectible doll. She is wearing a beautiful, luminous, black ruffled gown. The gown has colorful details and is embroidered with sugar skulls. She is also sporting a lovely updo that is highlighted by her bright orange headband that evokes Dia de Muertos iconic marigolds. She is also wearing calavera face paint and is wearing bright pink accessories.

I still can’t get over how lovely this Barbie is. It’s all the little details like the marigold inspired headband.
All the way to the bracelet that has a sugar skull on it and flowers.
Her necklace and earrings bring something to the overall aesthetic as well. And it matches the bracelet!
Complimentary shoes that also go well with her outfit.
She even is sporting a ring! It looks like a flower which is perfect for Day of the Dead.
Day Of The Dead Ken Doll
As you can see, Mattel even brought out a Day of the Dead Ken doll to accompany Barbie. He is sporting a black satin suit with turquoise accents and colorful embroidery. He dawns a silver belt and a wide-brimmed sombrero and his calavera face paint really pulls the look together. Ken is sold separately, but both dolls compliment each other and look ready for Dia de Muertos festivities.

What Is Day Of The Dead?
The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday where friends and family honor their loved ones that have past. The holiday starts on October 31 and ends on November 2.
Families and friends will gather together, pray, and enjoy food. They will visit cemeteries and decorate the graves of their late loved ones with alters called ofrendas. You can see good depictions of this in the movie Coco or The Book of Life.
More Day Of The Dead Barbies
Mattel first released the Day of the Dead Barbie in 2019. And like all the later Barbies, it is gorgeous. She wore a floor length black dress that was embroidered and had a marigold and butterfly headband with face paint.
Each year the Day of the Dead Barbie was released, but a little different and a little more intricate than the last. The 2020 Barbie wore a beautiful lace dress with embroidery, gold jewelry, with colorful flowers in her hair.
In 2021, Barbie wore a traditional dress that was embroidered with flowers and sugar skulls. She wore a crown of marigolds with skulls alongside a twisted hairband.
The 2022 Day of the Dead Barbie is so colorful. She had a ruffled dress with royal purple and printed skeletons and flowers and she dawned a cempasuchil flower and rose and headband as well as a calavera face painting as well.
Last years Barbie wore a vibrant pink dress embroidered with flowers and skulls. She wore a headband of monarch butterflies and had lovely gold jewelry and a metallic calavera face painting done in rose gold.
