ISIS Claims Responsibility for Deadly Knife Attack in Germany, Multiple Casualties

The Islamic State group (ISIS) claimed responsibility for a horrific knife attack at a “diversity festival” in Solingen, Germany Friday night, which killed three and left eight injured.

There have been several arrests:

The group said the attacker targeted Christians and was a “soldier of the Islamic State” who carried out the attack “to avenge Muslims in Palestine and everywhere.”

German police previously said that there was no other obvious motive other than terror and that the attacker appeared to be unknown to the victims.

Late Saturday, authorities said that they had arrested a second person, along with a 15-year-old boy, in connection to the attack.

The second suspect was arrested at a home for refugees in Solingen, which is located near Cologne and Duesseldorf in the west of the country. Authorities have not identified the suspects name, age or if they are the main perpetrator of the attack.

Journalist Andy Ngo reports that police have so far released little information about the suspect and asked people not to “speculate online.”

Police have still refused to share suspect information about the wanted knifeman. He allegedly shouted praise for Allah during the attack.

Ngo added that there were reports the suspect shouted, “Allahu Akbar.”

The 15-year-old boy who was arrested was not suspected of carrying out the attack; rather, he had spoken with the suspect and knew an assault was planned but did not contact authorities.

Three victims were killed, and it was reported the assailant deliberately went for their throats:

The victims were in front of a stage enjoying a live music band playing to mark the town’s 650-year anniversary when the attack occurred at around 9:35 p.m. local time Friday.

The three people who died were two men aged 67 and 56, and a 56-year-old woman, authorities said.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz tweeted his shock about the deadly attack:

Translation: The attack in Solingen is a terrible event that has shocked me greatly. An attacker has brutally killed several people. I have just spoken to Solingen’s mayor, Tim Kurzbach. We mourn the victims and stand by their families.

Although information about the attacker has not been released and a motive has not yet been announced, German politician Björn Höcke of the right-leaning party Alternative für Deutschland tweeted his opinions Friday:

Translation: Germans, Thuringians, do you really want to get used to these conditions? Free yourselves, finally put an end to the misguided path of forced multiculturalism!

Protect your children! Send the responsible cartel parties into the desert! Vote for change on September 1st. Things cannot continue as they are!
