In this role, Smith, who has 30 years of experience in the construction industry, will be responsible for implementing and overseeing strategies to enhance field efficiency, safety, quality and productivity, according to the release.

Smith has been with Gilbane since 2014 as a construction executive, according to his LinkedIn. Before joining the firm, he spent 20 years working for Bethesda, Maryland-based Clark Construction, in roles that ranged from superintendent to project executive, Gilbane said in the release.

During his time at Gilbane, Smith’s project portfolio, per the release, includes renovations on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and M&T Bank Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.

“Jumanne is among the most capable construction professionals in the industry,” said Heidi DeBenedetti, Gilbane’s chief operating officer, in the release. “Everyone who’s ever worked with him knows he has the skillset and experience to meet any and all construction client needs. We’re lucky to have him.”

Over the past few months, Gilbane has made other moves to bolster its executive ranks. In August, it added Anthony Armento as a senior preconstruction executive in its Philadelphia office, along with former Lendlease executive Steven Carter as its new director of global health and safety.
