Boston-based Suffolk has brought in a Washington, D.C.-area construction pro to run its mid-Atlantic region and grow its federal government project portfolio.

The firm hired Philip Brault as its general manager for the mid-Atlantic as well as Suffolk’s National Federal Center of Excellence, which focuses on federal building projects. Brault previously spent more than 18 years at Milford, Massachusetts-based Consigli Construction. Since 2021, he was director of operations for the D.C. region, according to his LinkedIn.

The firm aims to capitalize on significant growth in federal government construction demand as various agencies move to upgrade facilities and modernize infrastructure, according to a Suffolk news release.

Brault brings his federal experience to Suffolk, having worked on projects across the federal, education, museum and cultural, hospitality and public institutional markets. Some of his portfolio projects include the revitalization of the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum, the U.S. Naval Academy’s MacDonough Hall and the $69 million Lincoln Memorial Undercroft project, which is currently transforming the structure’s cavernous basement into an immersive museum.

“Joining Suffolk is an incredible opportunity to work with a firm at the forefront of innovation in the construction industry,” said Brault in the news release.

On his LinkedIn, Brault said he put a lot of thought into his move and referenced Ralph Waldo Emerson.

“This decision did not come easy. The world is all gates and time is a scarce resource,” he posted. “I am excited for what the next chapter brings and to continue building off the partnerships created with so many great people in this industry.
