Just like kids enjoy finding shapes in the clouds, today we’re finding turkeys in our paint shapes! This project gives kids a chance to express their creativity, come up with silly ideas, and practice putting those ideas onto paper.

Directions to Make colorful turkey art

Step 1

Tip: Keep in mind that we are covering the page with lots of turkeys, so don’t paint too large of a shape and run out of room!

Step 2

Then, use paint to add a shape for a turkey body.

Step 3

step 3 - repeating steps 1 and 2 to fill the page with different colored turkey bodies - kids activities blog
Repeat steps 1 & 2, changing colors and shapes, to fill the page!

Next, repeat steps 1 and 2. Change shapes and colors for each body until page is filled.

Step 4

Finally, draw details on the dried painted bodies, making each of them unique. Consider drawing turkeys facing different directions, wearing accessories, or in motion!

I love the different personalities of our turkeys! Since these projects are made on paper, they can easily be framed, clipped, or displayed in your preferred style and added to your holiday decorations.

Our Experience Making this colorful turkeys Art Project

This was such a fun little project that gave us a chance to explore colors, shapes, and our imagination! It was interesting to see how the different painted shapes inspired us to draw different personalities on the turkeys. Also, using various marker tips gave us a variety of appearances as well. I think this is a great warm up exercise that could easily develop into a more detailed drawing or turkey cartoon character! The possibilities are endless!
